RBC Presents - The Second Edition of Let’s Bond’s En Vogue with Holt Shopping Event #LETSBOND
An annual fundraiser for and by young professionals raising funds and awareness for mental health

Wednesday, May 3rd, Let’s Bond was back with its second edition of the Let’s Bond with Holt Renfrew Shopping Event– “En vogue with Holt” (Holt Renfrew, 1300 Sherbrooke St. West). Strong from it’s October 2016 Annual Ball’s record-breaking success, the Let’s Bond team was proud to convene it’s loyal community for a glamorous evening of spring shopping and style. All profits from ticket sales and 10% of all the in store sales of the evening went to the two foundations supported by Let’s Bond; The Jeunes en Tête Foundation and The Douglas Institute Foundation.
The Let’s Bond movement is a Montreal collective of dynamic and engaged young professionals raising funds and awareness for mental health issues touching young professionals. It aims to continuously make an impact in helping those suffering from mental illness by promoting awareness and acceptance, organizing engaging events, and by providing financial support to leading foundations working within the field –The Jeunes en Tête Foundation and The Douglas Institute Foundation. As President Chris Harden explains – “With mental illness, we can all be leaders in drawing attention to the cause and making it as accepted as any other disease. This in itself has a huge impact”.
In 2011, Let’s Bond’s first fundraiser hosted one hundred guests and raised $3,500. Fast-forward six years later; Let’s Bond is a high-in-demand series of events where last year’s 2016 edition had over nine hundred attendees and raised over $250,000! Last year, Let’s Bond, in collaboration with Holt Renfrew, hosted its first ever shopping event raising over $20,000 and hosting over 600 guests.
On Wednesday, May 3rd from 6PM to 9PM, over seven hundred fashionable guests experienced an exclusive evening of shopping for the latest spring and summer styles from Holt Renfrew. Raising awareness for the cause in an artistic way, attendees had the chance to enjoy a flash fashion show where fashion becomes a metaphor for mental illnesses.
True to the Let’s Bond DNA, the soirée was filled with fabulous drinks, creative bouchées, sweet treats, as well as live artistic paintings - all to the sounds of one of Montreal's best DJs, Thomas H. Patrons and guest were pampered with various on- site beauty stations, including; complimentary hairstyling, manicures, eyebrow shaping, and, on-site makeup artists. For all the men in attendance - various complimentary barber services, as well as a vintage shoe shining station were enjoyed. Guests also had the opportunity to immortalize their styles and memories by posing in the avant-garde photobooth.

THE BUILDING – Lower Junction
A plethora of artists, designers and entrepreneurs thrive as a talented community in the west end of the city along Sterling Road. Adjacent to the Museum Flats and the West Towns, the Museum o f Contemporary Art will curate 5 floors of the historically preserved Auto Building, while the new neighbouring Draft Building welcomes Junction-born microbrewery Indie Ale House. Independent food vendors, galleries, and creative offices alike will have the opportunity to flourish amid the diverse mecca of the future Lower Junction neighbourhood. This 8-acre mixed use development will support approximately 565 000 square feet of new employment opportunities, including new office, retail, cultural, and commercial spaces. 540 000 square feet of new residential spaces will include a range of different housing types and tenures, and over an acre of new parks and open spaces throughout the site.

The Auto Building
Toronto’s once-tallest building, now the center, physically and philosophically, of the community. The Auto Building at 158 Sterling Road is an epic space; five floors of vaulted ceilings supported by sweeping fluted columns for the museum; five more floors atop them for 21st-century businesses, with rare 360-degree Toronto views. Ten floors of creators and re-thinkers, sending new ideas up and down the levels of this former factory, clanking once again, a lot more quietly this time, with new industry. Former machining areas, weathered concrete, and vintage barn doors characterize the interior as undeniably 1920s heritage Toronto. Ushering in the new with a nod to the past, Architects Alliance will restore this landmark while preserving its historic detailing.

The Draft Building
The Draft Building, the avant-garde younger sibling of the towering incubator just metres away from it, wears waves of perforated ribbon in an innovative design by SvN and CM Peck. And while inspiration and 360-degree views are everywhere, the cladding not only helps with focus, but is a highly-efficient envelope, conserving energy and providing soft and consistent lighting throughout. Ample floor space allows for unrestricted movement and room. The spaces are endlessly shapeable. Indie Ale House will anchor the Draft Building with a brewpub to showcase their hand-manufacturing process. This is Toronto’s newest campus of creativity and commerce, teeming with ideas and spaces for everyone.

THE EVENT
The Common Ground pop-up gallery space launches on Tuesday October 25th 2016 with an exclusive invite only preview party, featuring renowned artist George Whiteside. Guests are among the first to view and collect works of art while enjoying Indie Ale House beer, complimentary hors d’oeuvres, and a custom coffee blend created just for them.

George Whiteside
Toronto artist and photographer George Whiteside has been creating artwork for over four decades, earning him awards, grants and features in many publications, plus a permanent place in several Canadian Museums. A collection-themed series of portraits, objects, and abstract art pieces will be on display in the Junction Gallery this fall when George curates a photography and sculpture exhibition. When anyone asks George what he collects, he answers: “I collect collections.”

Propeller Coffee
These award-winning Junction roasters are passionate about responsibly sourcing their beans to create a quality cup of coffee. By working closely with their farmers and using combinations of analysis and talented palate work, Propeller Coffee is continuously refining each batch of coffee that they make — and with a small environmental footprint to boot. They’ve even teamed up with Autoshare to deliver their products and supplies as energy efficiently as possible. Speaking of partnerships, Propeller has sha
red some of their magic beans with us so you can now take home your own blend this October in the Junction Gallery.

Indie Ale House
Indie Ale House has been independently brewing since 2012 and has quickly earned itself a fearless reputation in the heart of the Junction. One look at the menu and anyone will get a sense of the playful creativity and intense flavouring that’s being selectively concocted behind each tank. With chef-curated pub fare and an unusual list of beers, Indie isn't about mass production or adhering to style guidelines. This October, taste a unique brew for yourself when Indie Ale House visits us at the Junction Gallery.
