Buffy Sainte-Marie: Biography
Over the course of her six-decade career, Buffy Sainte-Marie has inspired multiple generations of musicians, artists, and activists. The powerful, raw singer-songwriter with unmatched scope has steadfastly refused to be trapped in the patterns of the past or be entangled in the workings of the contemporary music industry. Since her groundbreaking debut album It’s My Way! (1964), the Cree singer-songwriter has been an informative advocate for Indigenous cultural awareness.

Sainte-Marie is the most recognized, celebrated, and successful Indigenous artist of all time. In addition to winning multiple Canadian JUNO Awards and being inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1995, she won an Academy Award as co-writer of the Best Original Song winner “Up Where We Belong,” from the film An Officer and a Gentleman, in 1983; the song also won Golden Globe and BAFTA honours.

Her appearances on Sesame Street enriched public-access television with important subjects such as breastfeeding, sibling rivalry, and Native American language and culture. When she agreed to take an acting role in the TV series The Virginian, it was conditional that Indigenous roles be filled by Indigenous actors. A natural-born storyteller, Sainte-Marie has recently authored her first children’s chapter book, Tâpwê and the Magic Hat, releasing editions in English and Plains Cree. Her debut children’s book, Hey Little Rockabye, will be followed by the upcoming release Still This Love Goes On.

Mustafa: Biography
Twenty-four year old singer-songwriter Mustafa Ahmed grew up fighting. He would do so firstly as a child growing up in Toronto’s Regent Park community, matching up with other children his age at the behest of the older kids from around the way. Somehow, it did not harden him. He would continue fighting, though now against stereotypes, as an adolescent poet dispelling notions of who Black Muslims from Regent Park were with every stanza of his continuously celebrated poetry. He would attempt to fight again, this time on behalf of his immediate community, as a member of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Youth Advisory Council, an effort that helped him realize his mission would be better served by amplifying the stories he’d collected over the years through song. And that is how we got Mustafa, child of Sudanese Muslim immigrants, one-time Pan American Games Poet Laureate, cherished collaborator of acts like Majid Jordan, The Weeknd, and Khalid. His debut project, When Smoke Rises, aims to exalt the Regent Park MC whose legacy Mustafa fights for now: Jahvante “Smoke Dawg” Smart, who was murdered in 2018. The project also honours others he’s known and lost, sewing these departures — and his attempts to cope with them — into song, immortalizing friends in the most honest way he knows how.

“It just kind of shattered my entire world,” Mustafa says of Smoke Dawg’s murder. “I didn’t even realize how much weight we shared until I had to take that weight on for myself.” More painfully then, When Smoke Risesdsss isn’t only about Smoke Dawg. The project references a number of presences taken from Mustafa, names like Ano, Santana, and Ali, the friend whose doom Mustafa might have actually felt when he’d ask Ali to relocate for fear of such an unsavory end. That story, titled for its subject, appears as track six on When Smoke Rises. “All of the deaths that I experienced, I experienced through the time constraints of mourning,” Mustafa says. “Specifically, for young Black people in inner-city communities that die while at war with the state or at war with themselves, I wanted to beautify those departures. Because none of those departures were made beautiful for me.” On When Smoke Rises, Mustafa has sewn these departures — and his attempts to cope with them — into song, immortalizing friends in the most honest way he knows how.

Six top international and domestic performers are being recognized for their excellence with a prestigious PDAC 2022 Award.

Now in its 44th year, the annual PDAC Awards showcase exceptional leaders in the mineral exploration and mining industry. They will be honoured at an Awards Celebration in Toronto during the annual PDAC Convention.

The PDAC Board of Directors select recipients based on recommendations of the association's Awards Committee. To learn more about the selection process, see selection criteria.

Congratulations to the PDAC 2022 Award Recipients for their outstanding accomplishments.

2022 Bill Dennis AwardThis award, named for a former president of the association, honours individuals who have accomplished one or both of the following: made a significant mineral discovery; made an important contribution to the prospecting and/or exploration industry.
Charlie GreigFor the discovery of the Saddle North gold-rich copper porphyry deposit and the Saddle South vein gold-silver zone in the Golden Triangle region of British Columbia
Charlie Greig, Vice-President of Exploration at GT Gold, and his fellow explorers were ecstatic when they drilled soil anomalies at the Tatogga project in 2017 and intersected high grade gold. The GT Gold team had uncovered a brand new epithermal gold-silver vein system they called Saddle South in the prolific Golden Triangle camp of northwestern BC.
But the best was yet to come. The team launched a separate drill program about 1.5 kilometres northeast of the precious metals discovery to test a coincident soil geochemical and geophysical anomaly, partially underlain by strong alteration visible in subcrop. In September 2018 they intersected 430 metres of 0.7 grams per tonne (gpt) gold and 0.4% copper. More impressive intercepts followed. Newmont invested in GT Gold and subsequently raised its stake from 10% to 15% via an $8.3 million private placement, a sure sign the world’s largest gold producer had faith in GT Gold’s new finds.
A maiden estimate for Saddle North completed in 2020 calculated indicated resources of 298 million tonnes grading 0.28% copper, 0.36 gpt gold and 0.8 gpt silver, and inferred resources of 543 million tonnes at 0.25% copper, 0.31 gpt gold and 0.7 gpt silver.
In mid-2021 Newmont paid $393 million to acquire full ownership of GT Gold, stating that the "Tatogga project, including the primary Saddle North deposit, has the potential to contribute significant gold and copper annual production at attractive all-in sustaining costs over a long mine life. In addition to the known deposits at Saddle North, there are further exploration opportunities throughout the land package."

2022 Distinguished Service Award
This award recognizes an individual who has achieved one or more of the following: made a substantial contribution to mineral exploration and mining development over a number of years; given considerable time and effort to the PDAC; made outstanding contributions to the mineral industry in the field of finance, geology, geophysics, geochemistry research, or a related activity.
Keith N. SpenceFor more than two decades of dedication to PDAC, ongoing leadership in Canada's mineral exploration and mining industry, and his contribution to developing CIMVAL, a globally recognized code for mining valuation
Keith Spence combined his geology and finance expertise to develop new guidelines for determining the value of mineral projects after the Bre-X scandal rattled investor confidence in the sector. In 1999 he co-chaired the CIM committee that established the Canadian Mining Valuation Standards and Guidelines. CIMVAL became a globally recognized code to ensure a qualified person conducts valuations while disclosing all relevant information.
Keith is a well-known leader in the industry and beyond. He has helped shape important policy and programming directions at PDAC by serving on its board of directors and committees for more than two decades, including the convention planning and securities committees, as well as chairing the international affairs committee. He is often called upon to speak at international mining conferences and has represented PDAC at events in China, where he is renowned for introducing leading business practices in mining.
He was chair of the Mineral Economics Society and a board and committee member for CIM. He also served on the board of the Royal Ontario Museum and Ontario Place. He received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012 and the Harry Jerome Award for Professional Excellence from the Black Business and Professional Association in 2017.
Keith earned his BSc Geology (Honours) from the University of Western Ontario where he was recognized as a Commonwealth Scholar.  He went on to complete his MBA at Western’s Ivey School of Business and later graduated from Harvard University’s Global Management program. He started his career as a field geologist before turning his attention to capital markets and corporate finance and then to mineral economics and project valuation. He is CEO of Global Mining Capital, a firm that specializes in private equity and industry mergers and acquisitions.
For his dedication to establishing globally respected standards for mineral valuation and furthering PDAC’s international reputation for excellence, Keith is richly deserving of this prestigious service award.

2022 Sustainability AwardThis award honours an individual or organization demonstrating outstanding initiative, leadership and accomplishment in protecting and preserving the natural environment and/or in establishing good community relations during an exploration program or operation of a mine.
Sabina Gold & Silver Corp. For state-of-the-art caribou protection and social initiatives at the Back River gold project in the Kitikmeot region of southwest Nunavut
In 2015 Sabina presented a case for the development of the Back River Project to the Nunavut Impact Review Board. Following a lengthy process, Sabina had met most of the requirements for permitting the project, but the board had concerns over how the company would protect caribou herds in the region. They rejected the initial application. Sabina asked the government, community and other stakeholders for help to devise a better plan.
The collaborative process enabled Sabina to create one of the most stringent caribou protection plans in the North. The initiative starts with Inuit monitors who continuously scout the region for caribou. At the first sign of activity, and depending on how vulnerable the herd is, the operation slows down or comes to a standstill. Blasting stops. If activity is detected along the 170-kilometre winter road leading from the mine to the port facility at Bathurst Inlet, trucks halt until caribou have cleared the area. The winter road is constructed with flattened banks and vehicle speeds are limited to ease migration should caribou pass through the area.
The caribou protection plan is just one of several initiatives designed to support sustainability in the region, including: investigating a hybrid energy system to offset diesel power generation with wind energy; funding the restoration of the creek leading into Bernard Harbour to create an unobstructed path for char to travel to spawning grounds and back out to the ocean; establishing a wealth creation fund with a $4 million initial investment to create long-term employment opportunities outside of the mining industry in Kitikmeot communities; donating 80 Leitz microscopes to regional schools to promote STEM learning; and a food security program that was created when the Covid-19 pandemic limited personnel from working on site.
As a result of these and other efforts, Sabina received its social license including a Nunvut Impact Review Board Project Certificate in 2017 and a Nunavut Water Board License in 2018. The company has also entered into a renewable 20-year benefit and land tenure agreement with the Kitikmeot Inuit Association (KIA) representing more than 6000 Inuit. “In Sabina, we have found a partner that shares our vision of sustainability,” according to KIA President Stanley Anablak.

2022 Thayer Lindsley AwardThis award recognizes an individual or a team of explorationists credited with a recent significant mineral discovery anywhere in the world.
Rio Tinto ExplorationFor the 2017 discovery of the Winu copper-gold deposit in the Paterson Province of Western Australia
A modern theme of mineral exploration is that the next generation of mines will be found by geoscientists who can effectively explore for mineralization under a cover of rocks or sediments. In late 2017, the Rio Tinto exploration team did just that, intersecting significant copper-gold mineralization on the first pass of the Winu property. By mid-2020, Rio Tinto had established an inferred resource of 503 million tonnes grading 0.45% copper equivalent for Winu. Rio Tinto continues to actively engage with the Traditional Owners at Winu and there has been progress towards securing consent to the Project Agreement in advance of submitting the necessary environmental and regulatory approvals.
The Paterson Province of Western Australia is gold country, but geologists Helke Dalstra and Jennifer Maguire and exploration manager Mawson Croaker estimated deep-seated porphyry deposits could be associated with the area’s buried granites. On the basis of structural and stratigraphic setting, proximity to a granitoid and the aeromagnetic character of the district, they identified several targets. When they followed up with airborne geophysical surveys, they found a shallow EM conductor coincident with one of their targets.
Then came the hard part: accessing the region for drilling. Battling lengthy travel times to the remote area and temperatures exceeding 45°C, the team set up a reverse circulation drill to test the target under a cover of younger sediments. Rio Tinto discovered near-surface copper-gold mineralization in the first hole.
Subsequent drilling under inhospitable conditions including wildfires and cyclones expanded the mineralization, enough to support the development of an open pit mine. The Winu deposit remains open at depth and along strike and Rio Tinto continues to find new zones of mineralization on the large land package, suggesting there may be more to come.

2022 Viola R. MacMillan AwardThis award, which is named in honour of PDAC’s longest serving president, is given to an individual or organization demonstrating leadership in management and financing for the exploration and development of mineral resources.
Lundin Gold Inc.For financing and developing Fruta del Norte, one of the first large scale mining projects in Ecuador
In 2013 Ecuador was in the midst of drafting a new mining code to encourage investment in the sector. But it was too late for Kinross Gold, which had spent $1.2 billion in 2008 to acquire the Fruta del Norte deposit and five years trying to develop it. The company walked away from the 10-million ounce gold-silver resource when negotiations with the Ecuadorian government failed.
The Lundin family saw an opportunity. In late 2014 a Lundin company took Fruta del Norte off Kinross’s hands in a cash-and-share deal worth US$240 million. After detailed talks with the Ecuadorian government, Lundin Gold reached an agreement to enshrine legal and tax assurances for the mine and pave the way for project financing. The negotiations helped shape Ecuador’s new mining law.
The next challenge was to raise the $1 billion required to construct an underground mine in a jurisdiction that had little experience with large-scale mine projects. Lundin used a creative combination of debt, streaming and equity financing to achieve this goal, including a $250 million equity investment by Australia’s Newcrest Mining. The company was successful in fundraising partly because of an ability to mitigate environmental and social impacts and win community support for the project in an impoverished region of southeast Ecuador.
Fruta del Note reached commercial production in February 2020 and is expected to produce at least 4.7 million ounces of gold over a 14 year mine life.

You may have heard the term UNSDG going around in recent years. Don’t worry if you haven’t, it’s a cryptic acronym at best. So, what on earth does it mean?
UNSDG stands for United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Perfectly clear, right?
Not exactly. Let’s dig a bit deeper.
WHAT DOES UNSDG MEAN?In September of 2015, the United Nations set out these goals as part of a 15-year plan to (1) end poverty, (2) protect the planet, and (3) ensure prosperity for all. In essence, the SDGs are benchmarks for improving the quality of life for every living being and giving us a healthy planet on which to enjoy it.
193 countries signed onto the plan (including Canada) and solidified their commitment to meeting the following goals by 2030:
It may seem like the goals reach beyond the definition of ‘sustainability’. But, in reality, every UNSDG is an essential piece of the climate change puzzle. Education is intimately tied to gender equality; gender equality is said to be linked to birth rate; birth rate is linked to carbon footprint…the list goes on. The fact is, each of these goals is essential to our success as a planet.
And here’s the problem – we are not on track to meet a single one. In some areas, our global progress is slow, and in others, we are actually regressing, according to a report released in 2019.
In light of this troubling trend, leaders from across the globe called for a Decade of Action at the SDG Summit in 2019. Their demand was backed by a pledge to mobilize financing and strengthen institutions but, in many countries, was met with half-hearted attempts to pick up the slack.
Elevate SIX is on a mission to change that.

WHAT IS ELEVATE’S ROLE?As a partner of the UNSDGs, Elevate is dedicating its team, resources, and focus to empowering social and technological innovators to move us toward these goals.
The Decade of Action is structured on three levels:
  1. Global action
  2. Local action
  3. People action
Elevate lives in levels two and three, focusing on local and individual action, by implementing the following strategies:
Local Action #1: Support businesses that do goodWe believe that Canada’s innovators are some of the brightest minds in the world, but barriers to entry can stop some of our greatest leaders from getting off the ground. Elevate SIX will offer resources to those businesses whose mission or policies relate directly to one or more of the 17 UNSDGs. By providing a safe place for collaboration, state of the art digital equipment, and access to mentors and an influencer network, we aim to preserve their laserlike focus on those urgent social issues.
Plus, we seek to highlight community organizations whose work is changing the trajectory of these goals (even as you’re reading this) to encourage community engagement.
Local Action #2: Bring great minds togetherElevate SIX facilitates a series of digital events, from Live series to intimate roundtables. These products gather some of our country’s most powerful leaders for solution-focused discussions around (1) local and national policy, (2) strategy, and (3) progress. By facilitating these conversations, we endeavor to move the needle in measurable and meaningful ways.
People Action: Educate, inspire, empowerAs you may have gathered, each UNSDG is complex, and that means they can be confusing. Understanding the importance of each goal is one thing, but fully comprehending how individuals can play a role is a whole other battle.
Firstly, Elevate SIX is undertaking the responsibility of educating the public about what these goals are. That includes why they matter and what people can do to help. We will deliver educational materials through our social channels, newsletter, digital events and special series to empower and inspire Canadians. Secondly, we will celebrate the good, and remind everyone that efforts big and small really do matter.
For more on Elevate’s role, and how you can play a part, check out this personal message from Achim Steiner, Head of the United Nations Development Program.
It is our goal to become the one-stop-shop for sustainable development education, collaboration, and innovation in Canada. In that, we seek to truly earn the title of the Canadian Headquarters for the UNSDGs.
We hope you’ll join us.

THE CHANGING NATURE OF THE AUTOMOBILE AT THE 2020 CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL AUTOSHOW

TORONTO, Ont. — Showcasing more than 1,000 cars, trucks and SUVs, the latest in automotive technology and featuring nostalgic classics, the Canadian International AutoShow has opened ticket sales for its 2020 show.

Presented by the Toronto Star and wheels.ca, the AutoShow is Canada’s largest consumer show, attracting nearly 360,000 annual attendees to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in each of the past two years. With another solid roster of new and interesting cars planned for the show floor in 2020, AutoShow General Manager Jason Campbell is confident this trend will continue.

“This year more than ever the industry is evolving with new technologies coming to the forefront, and innovative new products attracting consumers looking to upgrade,” says Mr. Campbell. “The Ontario marketplace offers global manufacturers an affluent and growing consumer base, which is why we continue to attract more brands showcasing new product here than any other auto show in North America.”

With the theme Transformative Times, expect to see the latest in automotive innovation at the 2020 AutoShow, including the winners of the 2020 Automotive Journalists Association of Canada Innovation Awards, presented by the AutoShow. Awarded on October 29th at AJAC’s annual TestFest event, this year’s winners are:

  • Best Green Innovation — Porsche Taycan 800-Volt Architecture: This quick charging technology can provide up to 100-kilometres of battery charge in just five minutes. It is the fastest charging vehicle on the market, and makes electric vehicle travel more convenient than ever.

  • Best Safety Innovation — Hyundai Blind-Spot View Mirror: Using 360-degree camera technology to project a wide-angle view of adjacent lanes, it is activated when the driver turns on the signal indicator. A display on the gauge cluster shows the driver either the left or right lane with greater range than a regular mirror, allowing lane changes to happen more safely.

  • Best Technical Innovation — FCA Ram Blind Spot Monitoring with Trailer Detection: Providing a safer way to tow, this technology automatically detects the length of the trailer when it is connected. Using this information, it can alert the driver if another vehicle is in the vehicle or trailer blind spot, allowing the driver to make safe lane changes while towing.

“The Canadian International AutoShow is pleased to continue our association with AJAC’s Automotive Innovation Awards,” says Mr. Campbell. “The theme for the 2020 Canadian International AutoShow is Transformative Times, which speaks to the ever-evolving landscape of today’s automotive industry. The innovations celebrated here are among the highlights of that evolution, and we’re pleased to support AJAC journalists in showcasing them for Canadian consumers, and giving consumers a chance to learn more about them all at the AutoShow.”

This year’s AutoShow will also contain some fan favourites as well as all new features that will excite car lovers and casual fans alike:

  • The Cobble Beach Classics has consistently been amongst the most anticipated AutoShow features since it debuted six years ago. This year, in partnership with Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance, it returns celebrating some of the disruptors of the Industry

  • Another favourite, Auto Exotica, will once again put the cars of your dreams on the show floor, and feature some of the most exotic vehicles from around the world.

  • A wide selection of more than 20 electric vehicles from global auto manufacturers will be on display, and available for test drives in both the North and South Buildings of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

  • A peek into the future with the latest concept cars coming from the minds of some of the world’s leading car designers

  • The 2020 AutoShow will be held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from February 14th to 23rd. Early Bird tickets are now available at autoshow.ca for $18.75 — a 25 per cent savings from the at-the-door admission price of $25 that will be in effect until New Year’s Eve. Beginning Jan. 1, 2020, you can still save money by buying tickets online at a 10 per cent discount until the show opens on Friday, February 14th, the start of the Family Day long weekend in Ontario.

GET AHEAD OF THE ELECTRIC CURVE AT THE 2020 CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL AUTOSHOW

TORONTO, Ont. — With increasing environmental awareness and ever-improving support infrastructure, interest in electric vehicles in Canada is growing at an ever expanding pace.

For the past three years, the Canadian International AutoShow has offered EV Test Drives during the 10-day run of the show, and for the 2020 AutoShow this popular feature has been expanded again. When the Show opens February 14th, people interested in trying out an electric car will have 24 vehicles from which to test on Toronto’s streets, an increase of 33 per cent over last year. What’s more, nearly four in 10 AutoShow Early-Bird ticket buyers have indicated that exploring EVs is their primary reason for attending the show.

“The Canadian International AutoShow is the best place to see all of your electric vehicle options in one place,” says Jason Campbell, General Manager of the AutoShow. “Every year, the number of electric and hybrid options available to consumers grows significantly, and our expanded association with Plug’n Drive who will be managing our on-site test program will help more people than ever get educated and experienced in the benefits of this new technology.”

There have been rapid developments in the electric vehicle sector over the past year, and they are being recognized by industry observers:

  • At the 2019 Canadian International AutoShow, the all-electric Jaguar I-PACE was named Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year by the Automotive Journalists Association of Canada, the first electric vehicle to ever take home one of AJAC’s top awards.

  • Porsche won an AJAC Green Innovation Award for developing quick charging technology that can give a vehicle battery 100 kilometres of charge in just five minutes.

  • There were some 40 all-electric and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) on display at the 2019 Canadian International AutoShow. Expect that number to nearly double for 2020.

“We are pleased to once again be partnering with Canadian International Autoshow to help consumers learn about the environmental and economic benefits of driving electric and to provide a fantastic opportunity to test drive the growing line up of latest makes and models of electric vehicles,” said Cara Clairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Plug’n Drive.

ELECTRIFICATION IS TRANSFORMING THE AUTOMOTIVE MARKETPLACE

Toyota Canada CEO to address the impact of electrified vehicles at the opening address of the 2020 Canadian International AutoShow @Toyota @ToyotaCanada

TORONTO, Ont. — Twenty three years ago, the world was introduced to its first electrified vehicle: the Toyota Prius.

As the world’s first mass-produced hybrid vehicle, the Prius was a trend setter. It stood alone in the category at its introduction, and full electric vehicles were little more than concepts. How times have changed.

Toyota Canada President and Chief Executive Officer, Larry Hutchinson will showcase the electrified transformation happening in-market and the impact it has made on reducing our collective carbon footprint.

“In my 30-plus years at Toyota, I can’t remember a more transformative time for our industry,” says Mr. Hutchinson. “Over the past few years, vehicles have become much more automated and connected. But the biggest, and perhaps most significant, transformation has been in what we’ve been putting under the hood of our cars and trucks: electrified powertrains.”

Accompanied by Alex Wurz, a former Formula 1 diver, two-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and current advisor to Toyota’s Gazoo Racing World Endurance Championship team, Mr. Hutchinson will help open the AutoShow’s Media Preview Day with a keynote address at 8 a.m. in the John Bassett Theatre (100 level, North Building, Metro Toronto Convention Centre).

The theme of the presentation mirrors that of the 2020 AutoShow — Transformative Times. With the Toyota RAV4 Prime and TS050 Hybrid race car (the #8 car that won the 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race) on stage, Mr. Hutchinson will explore the electrification of the automobile, and delve into why — in a world concerned about carbon emissions — Toyota continues to participate in motorsports.

The electrification movement will be prominent in the exhibits for Toyota and Lexus at the AutoShow. Toyota will have the RAV4 Prime, Prius Prime and hydrogen-powered Mirai on display, as well as a new GR Supra Track Concept. Lexus will have six electrified Lexus vehicles, including the LF-30 Concept, on display.

Following the opening remarks by Toyota, the Automotive Journalists Association of Canada will present the Canadian Car of the Year and Canadian Utility of the Year awards. The opening ceremony of the AutoShow’s Media Preview Day is presented by Canadian Black Book.

  • If the design of the RS7 doesn’t take your breath away, the twin turbo engines will. Wider and lower than the A7, it cuts a low profile while giving a new look to performance and style.

McLaren

  • In 1969, McLaren won every one of the 11 Can-Am races it entered with the M8B, and Bruce McLaren was crowned Can-Am champion. The McLaren Senna Can-Am celebrates this dominant season. A limited edition created just for Canadian customers, the Senna Can-Am features a 25-hp power upgrade, unique louvered front fender design, special alloy wheels with polished outer rims, four-pipe exhaust, and more. Toyota

  • The Toyota TS050 Hybrid, developed by Toyota’s racing team, is powered by a biturbo V6 gasoline engine with an eight mega-joule hybrid system, delivering a maximum power of 1,000 hp to the four wheels. The TS050 Hybrid car #8 won the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race in 2019.

  • The Supra retuned to Toyota’s lineup last year with great fanfare. This year, get a peek at the GR Supra Track Concept, which features more aggressive styling, additional features and a more powerful inline-six engine.

Volkswagen

  • Volkswagen is investing billions of dollars in its next generation of electric cars, the first of which will come to Canada sometime in 2021. At this year’s AutoShow, they’ve given us a preview of what to expect with the MEB chassis, essentially the foundation for the future. This is a rare opportunity to see the parts of a car normally hidden underneath a sculpted body. Now that we’ve seen what’s underneath, we can’t wait to see the whole car next year!

  • With the Atlas, Volkswagen found just the right recipe for the Canadian SUV buyer. With room for seven, a bold upright design and a fun-to-drive character, the Atlas has quickly become one of the brand’s top-sellers.  Coming this spring will be a facelifted version, which draws inspiration from the recently revealed Cross Sport five passenger version.  A freshly-sculpted front end featuring revised LED lighting, new bumpers and grille and new technology under the skin will make the Atlas an even more popular choice this year.

Other new vehicles will be unveiled at the AutoShow by Chrysler and Jeep — plus a second from Nissan.

New to the 2020 AutoShow is a re-imagined display from Honda Canada. A fully interactive installation named “The Intersection,” it brings to life a modern cityscape that tells Honda’s story. Included is an interactive display of the robotic elements of the manufacturing process, examples of Honda’s mobility initiatives, and a dramatic crashed Civic highlighting their safety story.

Another new addition to the 2020 AutoShow will be a 3,000-square-foot centrally located showcase highlighting some of the latest technologies and organizations working to develop the electric, autonomous and commercial drone delivery systems our future transportation networks will rely upon.  This Future Tech Hub, located in the main showroom on the 800 Level in the South Building, will be the AutoShow home base for FLO recharging networks, APMA’s Project Arrow, Drone Delivery Canada as well as the sign-up area for Plug ‘n’ Drive’s Electric Vehicle Test Drive program.
